Hi.

This is the place for all of my random musings, my life happenings, and our journey in turning our forest into a farm!

Thanks for taking the time to visit!

Getting Ready

Getting Ready

We are in the process of preparing our land to be lived on.  Currently, it is grass, trees, animal tracks and poison ivy, oak and sumac.  I can attest to the abundance of poison sumac, as I am on day 15 since the rash showed up and I'm still not completely healed.

We've never had a farm before.  Never grew up on one.  I have no idea what I am doing.  Our plan for the farm is to be able to maintain a simple, self-sufficient way of life, where quality is more valued than quantity.  We want to grow our own food and make as many things as possible using our farm's produce! We have so many ideas, but at this point none of our plans are concrete.  The farm will grow with us as we learn new things and make mistakes.  There will be lots of learning from our mistakes, I'm sure!

We have a lot of work ahead of us.  Once we are moved on the land (we have to install septic and electric), we will be building a fence so we can start growing a goat herd.  We already have backyard chickens, a Great Pyrenees and an Australian Shepherd.  Aside from goats, we plan on adding cats, pigs, ducks, and rabbits.

In the meantime, I am endorsing and selling items I love and believe in.  I hope that you enjoy these items as much as I do!
